Pennsylvania-based Nexterus, a supply chain management and third-party logistics services provider, recently announced that President Ryan Polakoff has been promoted to CEO, effective Dec. 31.
He takes over for his father, Sam, who will retire after 49 years with the company.
“Words can’t express how happy and proud I am of my father for his legendary career,” Ryan Polakoff said. “He has had a wildly successful journey spanning six decades. His cerebral and unwavering focus have allowed us to blaze new trails and leave Nexterus in a strong position for growth. As our incoming CEO, it is my intention to strategically build on his legacy with new products and services in developing markets.”
Ryan Polakoff also has been appointed to the board of directors as vice chairman. He is the fourth generation of the Polakoff family to run the company, which was founded in 1946.
Sam Polakoff took over from his father in 1999. He began his career in 1975. Achievements include the company’s first sales and marketing effort, the country’s first privately held freight payment service, launching an internal information technology department, creation of one of the industry’s earliest transport management software products, and supply chain software and consulting.
