On Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced it would open the Round1A proposal period from Dec. 11, 2023 to Jan. 26, 2024.
The funding round will accept proposals aimed at closing gaps along the Alternative Fuel Corridors in Pennsylvania and building out the electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI), the funding opportunity follows the Round 1 Project selections and will on eligible locations that augment the existing corridor.
“After a successful funding round earlier this year, we’re looking forward to filling in the remaining gaps in our electric vehicle Alternative Fuel Corridors,” PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said. “With the dollars provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we can make our electric vehicle infrastructure more accessible to Pennsylvanians.”
Part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), NEVI funds in the amount of $171.5 million will be allocated to PennDOT over the next five years for EV charging infrastructure. PennDOT estimates $22 million will be available for Round 1A projects. Proposers are required to provide at least a 20 percent match.
PennDOT said that it will host a virtual Round 1A information session from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 20. A recording of the webinar will be posted online for those who cannot make the session. Additionally, funding opportunity materials and information will be made available online at PennDOT’s “Apply for NEVI Funds” web page.
