International express shipping company DHL announced Tuesday it was launching a new dedicated network flight to Argentina – the first to that country.
Officials said the flight will fly six times per week from Miami International Airport to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a stopover in Santiago, Chile, before flying back to Miami. Operated by DHL Aero Expreso, each flight will have a 52-ton capacity. The new flights will improve service reliability and increase capacity to support DHL’s international shipping customers.
“DHL remains steadfast and bullish in its belief in the power of trade, and how it continues to drive local economies, build prosperity and fuel entrepreneurship,” Mike Parra, CEO of DHL Express Americas, said. “That’s why we continually invest in and strengthen our global network. The introduction of this new flight to Argentina reinforces our unwavering commitment to global trade by delivering faster and more efficient shipping and logistics solutions, and addressing the growing demand in the region.”
DHL said the new network flight will improve delivery times for U.S. origin shipments which will result in a 10 percent increase in shipments clearing customer the same day the flight arrives in Argentina. Additionally, the company estimated it would result in an increase of 50 for shipments delivered the same day they are cleared. For shipment originating in Argentina, the company estimated that 100 percent would be exported the day following pick-up at the latest.
DHL Aero Expreso is a Panama-based airline operating cargo services in Latin America and the Caribbean. The new flight marks a continued expansion by DHL Express into the region. In 2021, the company added Chile to its dedicated network, and in 2022, it added Brazil. Those flights, and the new one to Argentina are expected to improve connectivity with Central American, officials said.
