An American Automobile Association (AAA) analysis determined only 12 states have a gas price average of $2 per gallon or more, as prices continue to decline nationwide.

“AAA forecasts that the national average will continue to decrease into next month, possibly dropping as low as $1.65,” Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson, said. “We haven’t seen gas prices that cheap since January 2009.”

Per the AAA, Alaska tops the country’s top 10 largest weekly decreases at 9 cents, followed by Idaho, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Oregon, Michigan, Missouri, Washington, and South Dakota.

Wisconsin rests atop the nation’s 10 least expensive markets, according to the AAA, with a gas price average of $1.19 per gallon. Oklahoma checks in second, followed by Ohio, Michigan, Arkansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, and Mississippi.

Crude oil prices reported negative for the first time last week but indicated they made gains to end the week in the positive.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported demand at 5.3 million barrels per day (b/d), which the agency noted representing a small increase remaining low in comparison to last April’s 9.45 million b/d average.

The AAA said motorists can use their free mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android to find current gas prices along their route, adding it can also be used to map a route, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance.
